Introducing Mind's Eye, your story takes
place. Before we get into this video,
um, the co-CEO of Build a Rocket Boy is
in the Discord currently suggesting that
the only reason people are saying
negative things about Mind's Eye and
Build a Rocket Boy is because somehow we
were paid by Rockstar. What about your
own employees that are saying negative
things about Build a Rocket Boy? Are
they all on Rockstar's payroll as well?
Considering you're the co-owner of the
company, this is the worst attempt at
lacking any form of accountability for
anything that could, will, possibly has
gone wrong with your game. Anyway, let's
go back to the original scheduled video.
So, Builder Rocket Boy just had an early
access event in their Discord. And when
I say early access, it was an explainer
video that they kind of played for us,
which allowed us to see some of the
backend details and some of the more
intricate details of Minds Eye. So, it
went into a little bit about Arcadia,
which is their kind of like world
building system, and a few more little
details. Now, overall, it actually
looked a hell of a lot better than what
creators saw 3 weeks ago. So, I'm
genuinely really impressed. But, and
this is such a huge book that it I they
probably shouldn't have dropped this.
PlayStation have posted this whole
event. Obviously, it went live on
Discord first, then PlayStation posted
the full video. Well, PlayStation have
posted the whole video, which was
captured on PC, and some of the stuff in
the video won't even be in the game.
Now, I do not work in marketing anymore
in gaming, but I will say after like a
week or a couple of weeks of quite
serious backlash from the gaming
community, especially from creators that
saw the original early access footage,
you'd think you'd assume that the video
that they posted would at least be
captured on the console in which
PlayStation advertising or at the very
minimum that the trailer would consist
of only purely 100% stuff that will be
featured in the game. Also, Minds Eye
posted the same trailer that was posted
on the PlayStation channel. They both
posted it, but on the Minds Eye
channel's trailer. They didn't say that
the stuff wouldn't be in the game and
they didn't declare it was captured on
PC, but on Sony's channel, they did. So,
that's a bit of a weird disparity
between the two. Now, it is worth saying
that the trailer obviously did consist
of primarily quite a lot of gameplay,
but it was very short snippets at a
time, like a little scene here, a little
scene there. However, this is the first
time that they've actually tried to walk
us through some of the mechanics of the
game and it's all stuff that's really
good and it's really impressive and it's
stuff that they probably should have
done 3 months ago. They've explained how
some of the systems work and it's pretty
much the same sort of explanations that
we got in our live stream events that
the creators went to about 3 weeks ago,
but this time round this was a curated
video. We actually just saw raw gameplay
and it was the raw gameplay that caused
a lot of us to be concerned. And in this
video, we still haven't seen raw
gameplay. We don't know how that's been
potentially cut up and docked to not
show bugs or glitches or whatever. And
it's very likely that that's what
they've done. And it's the same for any
games developer, they would do the same
thing. But based on what we saw a few
weeks ago and the stuff that many
creators saw, I still think for a early
June release date, Builder Rocket Boy
still have a huge and monumental task on
their hand to get that game ready. Now,
this preview trailer does look amazing,
but the core features that myself and a
lot of people were like originally
interested in. And also, you could see
it on the Discord chat. When they showed
this feature, everyone went crazy,
Arcadia, the world building system,
which is only unfortunately coming to
PC. It's not coming to any of the
consoles, which is a shame because I
feel like that that's the longevity of
the game. When we had our original
creator call where they showed us live
gameplay and they just showed it to a
few YouTubers, the whole video was like,
"Yes, that looks really pretty. Uh,
that's cool." Obviously, there's a lot
of bugs throughout that we had to kind
of look past. But when they came to
Arcadia, the world building tools, that
is where all of us were like, "Oh [ __ ]
that's awesome. That is amazing. That's
what's going to carry this game
through." But with that not coming to
consoles, obviously, it's not I don't
even blame Build a Rocket Boy for this.
It's just, you know, you can't. Using
all of those tools on one of these is
not the same thing as being able to use
a keyboard and a mouse to scroll around
and and use them all. There is ways that
they can probably do it, but obviously
that's not their core focus at the
moment. And I do fully completely
understand that. Now, a lot of people,
myself included, were kind of under the
impression that this um like event on
Discord was going to be an opportunity
for us to actually speak to the
developers and ask some questions. It
wasn't. Um the call was a little bit
weird. They had a lot of technical
problems. Once again, not their fault.
Stuff happens. I've had it before on
calls on Discord where my microphone
just hasn't worked. So, the first thing
they did is they showed a little snippet
from Adam Whiting, who's kind of like
the head of the development for the
game, and he basically apologized. It
couldn't be on the call. Obviously, he's
off doing events at the moment. The next
thing they did is loaded up a preview
trailer, the one that's currently on the
Sony page, on the PlayStation page on
YouTube, and that gave us the
opportunity to look through this whole
entire video. Now, there are some really
cool features and functionality sets in
here, and the game does look a hell of a
lot better here than what we saw in the
like uncut live playthrough event that
we were all invited to. But it's
difficult cuz a lot of people are, you
know, comparing this to what we saw.
What we saw was an hour where it was
like maybe 15, 20 minutes, maybe up to
30 minutes or so of like cut scenes and
context and then straight uncut unedited
gameplay. And that's where we saw the
problems. The game, the art direction is
beautiful. I have absolutely no
criticisms of the art direction of the
game, and I'm sure the story will be a
banger as well. I have no concerns about
the story, about the graphics, about any
of that sort of stuff. My core concerns,
and they have been since my first
original video about my concerns, is the
gameplay mechanics and some of the
gameplay bugs and glitches.
Unfortunately, this video doesn't really
give us the opportunity to look at the
game long enough to see those. I think
another one of my big concerns which a
lot of people really they're taking it
the wrong way but during the original
creator event they held where they just
invited YouTubers to watch that original
unedited gameplay. They mentioned in
there that there's one release date for
everyone. Everyone gets the game at the
same time which sounds like it's fair
and it's cool for everyone. But what
that also means is magazines like IGN is
probably a bad example, but magazines
and journalists online, forget
YouTubers, you know, whatever, but
magazines and journalists don't get
early access to the game. So they can't
write their review to publish their
review on release day. So basically on
release day, there won't be any positive
or negative press about the game.
There'll only be the official narrative,
which does make you think, I'm not
saying this is the case. This is just
the way that it looked outside looking
in. It makes you think that if they do
have any concerns about how the game is
going to be received, there's absolutely
zero way at all that the second the
pre-order drops that there could be any
articles published bashing the game or
saying anything negative about the game.
They're kind of like giving themselves
24-hour head start to get the sales in
before people start maybe criticizing
the game in any way. Um it that just
that no early access for anyone thing
was a bit concerning. I don't care
whether I get early access. I know at
like on release day they're giving
copies to, you know, people that have
done videos. I'm not sure if I'm still
allegible for that. My videos haven't
been the most positive. Obviously, I'll
either way I'll download it, I'll play
it, and I'll post, you know, episode one
and two of a playthrough and see how we
get on with it. I know a lot of you guys
have been asking for that. I just think
the no early access for journalists is a
bit I don't know. So, yeah, that's my
initial thoughts. I don't think, you
know, this doesn't really answer the
questions we had before. This isn't pure
uncut gameplay. that's being played
live. If they live streamed themselves
playing the game on YouTube, like maybe
for like half an hour or an hour, that
would give you a more accurate
representation of what some of the
issues bugs glitches could be. They
won't do that mainly because of the risk
and I do understand that, but I'd
probably understand it more if we were 3
months away from launch. We're not.
We're now 2 weeks away from launch, less
than 2 weeks away from launch. So, it's
a bit of a I don't know. I don't know.
Thank you so much for watching today's
video. If you did enjoy, please make

you all in the next one.
