to a lot of us in the GTA community we
have a lot of respect for Ned Luke and
in today’s video I want to share some of
my respect for Ned Luke but also talk
about why this is a bit conflicting so
I’m now 27 and when GTA 5 came out I
actually queued to get it now I couldn’t
actually go in the shop and buy it i had
to get a family member to do that for me
but I queued for hours to get the game
and I was so excited now when I got home
and played the game obviously I had the
same feeling that everyone else did this
game felt special what Rockstar did to
this day even with Grand Theft Auto 6
they’re going to struggle to rival the
feeling that they gave players but what
really made GTA 5 special was the
characters sha Fontano Steven Ark and of
course Ned Luke now for a lot of us
growing up if we had parents that were
working or we had stuff going on at home
stuff that maybe we don’t like talking
about we just stick our head in Grand
Theft Auto play it and for us it was a
way to pass the time and it was a form
of escapism this beautiful open world
that Rockstar built was an opportunity
for us to escape reality and that’s kind
of what gaming is to a lot of people
it’s not about money YouTube or any of
that it’s about escapism that’s why the
vast majority of people play games and
that’s why fantasy games do so well and
the thing is is for the past nearly 12
years we’ve all been playing GTA 5 and
we all know the story inside out well
most of us know the story inside out and
we have a relationship with that story
because for us it reminds us of a point
in time a place in our life or a journey
that we’ve been on as people we’ve
played that game for years and to me one
of the people that I’ve always respected
and this is something I’ve spoken about
in both the podcast and done a dedicated
video which of course I’ve now deleted
talking about how Ned Luke has embraced
the GTA community so rather than
obviously being an actor a
well-established actor over the past
year or so he’s really embraced the GTA
community become a creator within it
playing games live streaming and talking
to his fans and this is something I’ve
been quite outspoken on saying is a
brilliant thing cuz it doesn’t feel like
he was just an employee that abandoned
the community it feels like he’s in here
with us he’s in the trenches playing the
games he’s one of us and with his growth
on social media it gave us an
opportunity to talk to Nedluke and have
dialogue with him and this is where the
problems really start over the past year
I’ve seen a lot of stuff on Twitter
where Ned Luke has left kind of snarky
comments towards people that were quite
negative and a lot of people have said
that he’s just trolling but a few people
have spoke about this and there’s been a
few conversations in private over the
past 6 months in particular where people
have mentioned to me that they don’t
feel like it’s trolling anymore it feels
like Ned is actually projecting his
feelings and then just using trolling as
the way to have his get out of jail free
card now we know in the GTA community
there are click baiters there’s Mr boss
for the win there’s loads of people
acting negatively in the community but
then there’s the other side of the
community people like TGG who have to go
to extreme lengths to make sure that
what they’re saying can’t be
misconstrued as clickbait in any way and
I know this more than anyone because I’m
constantly under fire from that whole
clickbait audience [ __ ] and it is
[ __ ] because well if you guys have
been watching you know how I approach
titles thumbnails and my ethics behind
doing YouTube so today was another day
on Twitter and I was surprised to see
Ned Luke calling out TGG as being
misleading a liar a click baiter the
general stuff and the negative
connotations that come with the GTA
community now we know for a fact we we
know categorically that TG isn’t a click
baiter he has fun with the community and
of course he uses that to gain some
views but he’ll never ever mislead the
audience for the sake of the views so
it’s fair to say that of all of the
creators in the GTA and GTA 6 space he’s
not really a click baiter let’s be real
now over the past 6 months as I’ve got a
bit bigger on Twitter people have
messaged me before when they’ve had
interactions with Ned Luke and I’ve seen
some really good ones people saying that
they had nice experiences but I’ve also
seen the ones where people have felt
really let down cuz Ned Luke to them is
a celebrity he’s a hero he’s people lock
up to him so when people message me
saying that they had a bad experience
talking to Ned Luke whether Ned is
trolling or not if he’s categorically
making people feel [ __ ] all the time by
saying things that to maybe some younger
viewers and younger audiences could be
seen as him ganging up on them they’re
going to feel negative and there is a
difference from trolling but as a man in
his 50s sorry 60s this isn’t really the
way that you should engage with the
people that are your audience and in the
words of Ned Luke himself the fans are
the game now I replied to Ned Luke a few
times and if you want to read it you can
pause it it’s on the screen but I had to
check that I wasn’t misreading this
correctly and it wasn’t just trolling
and I went back through my DMs and I
found six incidences of Ned Luke
upsetting people and they’re just the
people that messaged me about it forget
the people that never messaged me about
it but even other creators like Game
Roll for example now Game Roll is very
careful about what he says we have a lot
of conversations about what we post on
social media and how to make sure that
it’s not misleading game Roll is
probably the most ethical or him and
video tech between the two of them
they’re probably the two most ethical
creators when it comes to posting news
information on Twitter and with Game
Roll he started calling him a liar and
saying that he was misleading people
when he wasn’t but then all of this
being said all of this being said with
Ned Luke not liking people talking about
GTA 6 because no one knows anything and
only Rockstar know and all of this stuff
with all of that being said Ned Luke
still clickbait GTA 6 to do his brand
deals when the 27th theory happened he
was constantly dropping teasers for the
27th now the 27th was actually his ASUS
ROG deal and I fully understand building
up the hype dropping your brand deal on
that day 100% can’t fault it no issues
with it but my issue is is when he then
uses the same thing that he does to
create issues with other people and he’s
wrong about it like representing TGG as
being misleading or a click baiter it’s
bollocks we all know that’s bollocks but
then when he does a live stream and
people ask him about what he’s excited
for with GTA 6 he’s happy to sit there
and talk about it but when people ask us
our audiences on YouTube what we’re
excited about us talking about it is
misleading now if this was just like a
random dude on Twitter I’d give less of
a [ __ ] trust me I get in a lot of
Twitter spots you guys have probably
seen some of them are pretty funny but
this is a guy that to me I look up to
like I mean I reached out to him when I
was only at like 3,000 subscribers
asking for an interview which was
optimistic cuz that didn’t happen but I
really look up to Yeah the way that he’s
embraced the community but it’s stuff
like this is you know when people say
never meet your heroes it it rings true
here it starts to feel a little bit like
his catchphrase of the fans are the game
is more of a marketing piece than the
way he feels now this is just my opinion
but it’s my opinion formed off seeing
the way that he engages with people
online and it sucks because because we
know that like even though Shan Fontao
Solo is part of the the space he engages
in it in a different way to Ned and Ned
has been the most active part of the
community and obviously we don’t have
Steven Og really engaging with it he’s
done some really good interviews but
Ned’s been like the the GTA guy he’s
been the guy that came from GTA and then
fell into the community and we loved him
for it and now it there’s like this
sense of bitterness every time I see him
post about something or I see one of his
live streams because off the back of
that there’s these snide comments that
he’s making to other creators where he
believes his value is more important
than everyone else’s and what he doesn’t
understand is that the numbers he sees
on his screen isn’t just a magic number
that appears those viewers watch TGG
some of those viewers may even watch me
and some of these people follow Game
Roll on Twitter to see his posts we are
all in the same community and people
like TG have made an active effort to
try and combat some of the clickbait in
the community which I can respect and
obviously myself and others have tried
to make GTA content less misinformed
we’ve tried to come at GTA 6 content
from the point of trying to be as
accurate as possible so then to put out
public statements how no one should be
trusted and only listen to Rockstar is
actually another way of him just putting
down everyone else in the community then
there’s also the other side of it which
let’s just give Ned the benefit of the
doubt it’s all trolling it’s all taking
the piss well he has no respect from
creators for doing that because as we
can see from TGG’s post all this did was
make people believe it then give TGG a
load of [ __ ] for something which quite
clearly isn’t true and I’m assuming it’s
not trolling cuz one night out of
nowhere I started getting comments on my
videos saying that Ned Luke had called
me a click baiter so whether he’s
trolling and you’re a creator it’s a
problem and it’s an even bigger problem
if he’s not trolling because he’s just
being a bit of a prick i only say all of
this because I am a fan of Ned Luke
seeing one of your idols from your video
game like I mean my whole career only
exists because GTA 5 existed like the
only reason I’m interested in this topic
and the only reason we’re all interested
in GTA 6 is because for a lot of us GTA
5 was the game that broke through the
mold obviously GTA 4 was spectacular and
Vice City is one of my favorite GTA but
GTA V is the game that put Rockstar on
the map in the capacity that they’re at
today so like looking up to Ned Luke and
then just seeing that the people that I
respect he just throws shade on it just
leaves you with a bad taste in your
mouth and it’s also not just me that
feels like this like my tweets have
ratioed his not because I have a bigger
following i don’t i have a tiny
following people can read what he’s
writing and feel a little bit
uncomfortable that someone they’re a fan
of is talking to someone else they’re a
fan of like that many other notable
figures in the community have also
replied in this thread just kind of
sharing that this isn’t really it and
not really the way that you should
respond to your audience so yeah it does
suck i mean Ned has a history of being
swatted and having his life interfered
with and having people come after him
online and troll him but what he’s
actually doing is inviting other people
to get messed with online as well as we
can see from the replies on TGG’s post
loads of people came out of the woodwork
to blindly support Ned Luke because they
feel like they have to defend him and
start throwing shade on TGG when the
truth is a lot of these people probably
watch TGG and don’t give a [ __ ] anyway
it just feels like Ned’s using his
platform to tear down people so yeah I
wanted to make this quick video about it
because it’s rubbed me up the wrong way
seeing how other actors and games have
responded to their communities and a lot
of actors actually just leave the
communities entirely or never even get
involved in them in the first place
having Ned Luke in the community is a
massive benefit to the GTA space but
like this stuff isn’t keen to hear what
