In today's video, we're going to be
talking about some new details
surrounding the remake and remaster of
Grand Theft Auto 4, which is apparently
set to come out a little bit later on
this year. We'll be diving into all that
and more in this video today. So, to
give you guys a quick recap on where
this came from, we heard it from
Rockstar Games insider TZ Funds 2, who
was chatting with a couple of guys on
the GTA forum site, and it eventually
led to some discussion on Rockstar
remastering older titles. And Grand
Theft Auto 4 came up. Someone said,
"Have you by chance heard anything about
a potential GTA 4 remaster port for
modern gen consoles?" And he said,
"Someone at Rockstar hinted at the GTA 4
port, and by now it should have gone up
a year in development. We may end up
seeing it drop later this year, and it's
one reason in addition to existing
reasons the Liberty City Preservation
Project mod was taken down. If they
still followed their plan laid out from
the pandemic days, they'll do a Maxpane
3 port after Grand Theft Auto 4. So,
it's an opportunity to do a bundle or a
definitive edition, Maxpane one and two
remakes, which again are being made by
Remedy Entertainment, and a Max Pane 3
port. So, obviously that sent the
internet ablaze. Everyone was so excited
for reasons we have explained. A Grand
Theft Auto 4 is an amazing title, but
it's currently not available on the
modern-day systems, especially if you
have a PlayStation 5. And on PC, that
version does not run super well at all.
And we talked about some of the reasons
why this might work, like for example,
Take 2 Interactive and putting pressure
on Rockstar to simply put out a new game
every single year. It would fill the gap
nicely between now and when Grand Theft
Auto 6 comes out. And speaking of GTA 6,
we know that there's a ton of Liberty
City connections. That's where Lucia is
from. We see Liberty City license plates
there. So, could it be featured in that
game and in that story somehow? I think
the answer is possibly yes. Well,
there's been some more follow-up from
the man who ended up breaking this news
to us, and this is what he had to say
about 24 hours ago, and we heard from
someone that said, "Tez, I'm playing
through GTA 4 right now, so I wanted to
ask, is the remaster closer to the
definitive edition or Red Dead
Redemption? Personally, I love the
definitive editions. They really
modernize the games." And he said, "Not
a remaster." And I don't know be
anything beyond its development being a
thing. So it looks like this is going to
be less of Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice
City, and San Andreas being brought to
modern-day consoles and is more going to
be like Red Dead Redemption being
brought to PC. It's going to be simply a
port and hopefully some improvements
along the way. And really, I would say
those are the two biggest issues with
Grand Theft Auto 4 right now is simply
access not being able to play it on the
modern systems and also on PC just not
being able to play it well at all. It's
one of the most bugged versions
Rockstar's ever put out and they've
never really seemingly been able to fix
it. So, this would be their opportunity.
Now, this is a little bit disappointing
that we aren't going to see a completely
modern and revamped Liberty City with
modern and revamped characters like Nico
or Johnny Klez or Luis Lopez. But at the
end of the day, it would still be
something that I would love to go back
and explore, even if we don't get
necessarily all the bells and whistles
of some other Rockstar definitive
editions. And that's probably what
they're going to call their complete
remasters, definitive editions, and then
remakes. they'll probably just call them
nothing or Grand Theft Auto 4 enhanced
or whatever the case might be. Either
way, I think this is pretty exciting.
And again, if this does come out later
this year, I think it would be the
perfect thing in between now and when
Grand Theft Auto 6 releases on May 26,
2026. And just like with Red Dead
Redemption, Grand Theft Auto 4 was the
last Rockstar game to get singleplayer
updates. So, they could really package
this nicely with GTA 4's main story, but
also with The Ballad of Gay Tony and The
Lost in the Dam. So, if you had all
three of those in one, and it was priced
at a reasonable price point, something
that's not too crazy expensive, I think
that's something that fans could
ultimately really, really enjoy. Now, I
understand why Rockstar might not
necessarily have the capability to
completely redo Liberty City with a
definitive edition. Obviously, a ton of
work, as we've seen, is being poured
into Grand Theft Auto 6. So, I don't
think they want to diverge their
manpower and talent from that, but if
they can have a small group of teams
working on something that'll just be
nice and satisfying, I think that's
ultimately their endgame here. Now,
Tesund also provided another update as
discussion on this continued. He went on
to say this, it's not a remaster. I
don't know which platforms are targeted
or which version it'll be based off of
or which studio is handling this port.
All I know is that it entered
development last year and I don't have
anything more to present. So you can
take this with as much grain of salt as
you like. So again, we gathered some
more details here. We don't know what
systems it'll be for, but I would have
to guess it would be for the modern-day
consoles and PC. I would suspect it
wouldn't just only be on PC. Although
stranger things have happened and we
know that it entered development, it's
sometime in 2024. So that could have
been only a couple of months ago or it
could have been nearly close to a year
and a half ago, which if it's more
likely a year and a half ago, that's
more hope that we'll see this game come
out in 2025. And he says he hasn't heard
anything else since, which isn't
shocking. Again, little tidbits of
information like that are going to be
rare to come behind. And obviously
wherever this is coming from at
Rockstar, they probably don't want to
share too much as to not compromise who
they are revealing this information. But
the fact that we even now have a little
bit of a a radar for this is so cool and
it really does make me want to get more
information of course alongside this
with Grand Theft Auto 6, too. Now, a
couple of other things that'll be
interesting to watch here is number one,
will Rockstar include the multiplayer
for Grand Theft Auto 4? This is the
first Grand Theft Auto to feature a
multiplayer, and it was uniquely fun.
It's certainly not as indepth and as
detailed as what we have right now with
Grand Theft Auto Online, but it'll be
interesting to see if they include that
because they did end up shutting down
those original servers a handful of
years ago. And a couple of years ago,
they also had to make changes to some of
the radio stations, removing songs and
stations outright because they lost the
licenses and contracts to actually have
some of that music in the game. So,
it'll be interesting to see what some of
the changes are and if it is just a
port, what new things do we get? Are we
going to get, you know, enhanced
graphical settings like anti-aliasing?
Are we going to get, you know, 4K at 60
fps, a language upgrade for some people?
Those will all be interesting things to
note and see what Rockstar does here.
Because if they are going to re-release
this, they have to do some stuff to it.
They can't just have the exact same game
with no changes. They've got to do
something. And like I mentioned earlier,
if they just repeat what they did with
Red Dead Redemption, I would be
thrilled. That means we'd get the best
version of the game along with great
image quality, all the graphical effects
with none of the downsides of the yanke
janky PC port that we've had for the
last couple of years. So, it would
easily be the best way to play Grand
Theft Auto 4 outside of the PC version
without a ton of mod fixes. And it'll
also be interesting to see what studio
ultimately develops this title. Will it
be one of the newly acquired Rockstar
Studios? Will it be Double 11 Studios
that's worked on some previous remasters
for them? Again, I can't wait to get
more details on this. So, it'll be very
interesting to see what Rockstar Games
tells us next. I feel like we've heard
inklings of this again going back five
or six years to before the pandemic when
I think we first heard rumblings about
this idea. remember that image that was
found on some artist portfolio of like a
redone Liberty City in Grand Theft Auto
5's engine, at least one of the parks
that you see downtown. So, that got us
thinking, is there going to be some sort
of remaster or expansion? This is back
in the heyday of GTA Online. So, maybe
we thought something was going to happen
there. Either way, it'll be very, again,
interesting to see what Rockstar decides
to tell us next. But, I would love to
hear from you guys in those comments
down below. What do you think about GTA
4 getting a remaster, remake, port,
whatever it's going to be? Are you
