so Rockstar Games have just done
something very weird so Rockstar have
their Community emails which is
basically the emails that they send out
to various fan pages and in this email
they shared a link to their Discord
server yes Rockstar Games now have their
own official Discord server now this
might just sound like a games company
doing their own marketing but in my
opinion this is very different from what
we’ve seen in the past Rockstar Games
engaging with the community is a little
bit weird because it’s not something
that we’ve come to expect from Rockstar
over the past few years this isn’t
something that they do on a regular
occasion and to be honest the biggest
question that everyone’s been asking me
is what does this mean and I’ll be
brutally honest I’m not 100% sure
however I do think this means that
Rockstar maybe are looking to engage a
little bit more with the community
during the buildup to the release of GTA
6 whether that be from additional
trailers I feel like this is another
opportunity for Rockstar to notify more
people of when stuff is happening we saw
that Rockstar started integrating a
WhatsApp feed to give people
notifications of when stuff’s happening
that’s something that they opened up a
year ago and maybe this is just a
different avenue that Rockstar can use
to Target new users however I will say
that this is probably not one of
Rockstar’s smartest decisions I don’t
think well it might sound a bit idiotic
to say this I don’t think Rockstar
realize how big they really are because
this official Rockstar Discord server
has just been filled with I’ll be honest
rampant racism I’m not laughing because
that’s a good thing I’m just saying that
it’s very weird that that’s what this
Discord has become now as content
creators we have a hard enough time
managing and moderating our Discord
servers it can become a bit of a
challenge at the best of times with
something as big as Rockstar Games
managing and moderating this as a
platform is going to be a challenge I’ve
seen it in my own comment section
there’s a lot of frustration towards
RockStar at the moment for not doing
further marketing not releasing trailer
2 so managing this is going to be a an
interesting period period of time over
the next few months I reckon we’re going
to see a lot of things in this Rockstar
community that maybe are going to be
interesting now another thing worth
talking about there’s things like
Community challenges and different tabs
for different events so maybe this could
be a place where Rockstar could host
challenges and host different events for
people to engage in now it is worth
saying at this point there is a weird
thing here where they’ve got tabs for
collectors like different people that
collect Rockstar Games memorabilia now
this is actually quite big Rockstar
usually don’t acknowledge collector’s
items or acknowledge the industry that
surrounds them as a business to have
Rockstar and an official capacity
recognize the community and that there
are different people in the community
different consoles as well as PC players
as well as people that are interested in
different facets of their games having
Rockstar just come out here and make a
blanket statement that oh we recognize
all of these things that you guys talk
about for any other games developer that
wouldn’t be that important but for
Rockstar Games this is Big this is a big
sign of potentially things to come in
the future and how Rockstar are looking
at managing their Community ongoing I
think this is an extremely interesting
time in the community and we should all
probably have some conversations about
what this could mean the truth is none
of us really know at this point they’ve
just announced it it is what it is but I
do think this could present some really
interesting stuff for the future now
their Discord server is growing like
crazy in fact I’m currently sat here
watching the counter go up as we speak
it’s absolutely insane now one of the
more interesting things to note here as
well is this Discord server was actually
created just after the release of
trailer 1 they just never promoted it
they never did anything with it they’ve
obviously been planning this for over a
year now so this is clearly not just a
thing that Rockstar decided to do out
the blue this is something that they’ve
had sat there and waiting and probably
waiting for the right people to run it
and manage it because Rockstar will need
a team to manage a Discord server of
this size when it was first launched
slow mode wasn’t enabled loads of
features and functionality weren’t
enabled within the server I think I
joined when there was only about 800
people in the server there’s now like 13
or 14,000 in there so yeah let me know
in the comments down below what you
think this could mean and what this
means ongoing I’m still waiting to see
what happens when we have some more
information in there and it’s populated
with some more stuff maybe there might
be some Easter eggs in there maybe who
knows but we have to see what happens
