so there’s been a lot of speculation
around the story length for GTA 6 but I
think it would be good to go over some
of the factors and the variables that
can actually weigh into what makes a
story long or short for example if we
look at Red Dead Redemption 2 it was
quite a long story but a lot of that
length attributed to the story primarily
came from the fact that we were
traveling around on horses but also the
mechanics of the game are quite slow and
clunky intentionally just traveling
around from location to location in Red
Dead Redemption 2 made the game
significantly longer now whilst in Grand
Theft Auto 6 we will of course have
faster vehicles and actually vehicles in
general the map will also be potentially
bigger if not the same size as Red Dead
Redemption 2 the jewel is still out on
what to expect with that but then we
have the linearity for example we could
get a 30-hour story with Grand Theft
Auto 6 which at the moment a 35 to 40
hour story has been the most rumored but
for example we can take the game Detroit
become human as an example
so that game only takes 8 to 12 hours to
complete which doesn’t sound very long
however due to each Mission having many
different ways that you can carry out
the mission and different story lines
and hidden cutscenes that can take place
it could actually take you up to 50
hours to finish the game and explore all
of these different alternative routes
options endings and outcomes from each
Mission now something that not a lot of
people have talked about GTA 6 is
something that I think is going to make
a big big difference to the game for
years Rockstar have focused on linearity
of course with GTA 5 we had three
alternative endings and also in Red Dead
Redemption 2 there’s a few decisions and
choices that you make that can affect
the outcomes of certain events but
overall they’re still relatively linear
games with Grand Theft Auto 6 I do
believe that Rockstar will take the
approach of giving us different ways to
carry out missions and maybe the choices
that we make in the game will actually
have knock and effects to the way that
the story happens and it wouldn’t be
wasted either so I personally do believe
that Rockstar will take this approach of
diversifying the story with different
outcomes for many of the missions in
there potentially every Mission I do
think that’s you know we’re complicating
things a little bit there but you get
the idea but then this also brings us on
to something that Jason Shri said a few
years back initially the code name for
GTA 6 internally Rockstar was Project
Americas and the reason why it was
called this was because it was
originally supposed to have some parts
of South America in the game however
this was later actually removed from the
game and they shifted their focus just
towards Vice City leonida and the
greater area however something else that
Jason Shri said something quite
interesting is that Rockstar would look
to evolve this over time so whilst
primarily the game of course the big
money maker for Rockstar will be GTA
online there’s still options for them in
the future to expand the map and the
story for example if we take a look at
GTA 4 we had the Lost in the dam DLC we
had The Ballad of Gay Tony and of course
we had the main game itself now all of
these DLCs introduced entirely different
missions but at the time this was the
only way that Rockstar could actually
monetize the game Post Release other
than selling more copies now whilst the
focus will be GTA online for grand theft
6 I do think Rockstar will have a more
vested interest into producing DLC
content for the story mode in the future
mainly because Grand Theft Auto 6 isn’t
going to last Us 2 years and then
Rockstar are going to release another
game this game will last US 10 to 15
potentially even 20 years maybe in that
time period Rockstar will work on a
different IP I would love to see them
make a game about Pirates I just think
Rockstar with that Red Dead Redemption 2
style oh it would be amazing or bully
too so this brings me to what I actually
think the length of the story will be
well in my opinion and this is just
based on Good Feeling and of course some
of the information that we’ve had over
the past couple of years I think we
probably be looking at 40 hours for the
base story with potentially that going
up to 50 to 55 hours with alternative
endings or alternative ways that we can
carry out missions now that would be for
the the main story but for 100%
completion like all of the side missions
all of the Collectibles who really knows
it all depends how far Rockstar want to
take it and if they take it as far as
they did with Red Dead Redemption 2 to
get 100% in the game and do all of the
Collectibles and all of that stuff we
could be talking thousands of hours we
really don’t know at this point it all
comes down to what Rockstar’s approach
is for GTA 6 and unfortunately we can’t
tell that necessarily from the leaks nor
can we really tell that from the trailer
but I do think that this isn’t going to
be a standalone game that they just
release and then slap on an online
component to it I have a feeling that
maybe some areas of the map and some
things that we see in the story mode
will potentially evolve over time the
same way to some extent that it did with
Red Dead Redemption 2 but I’m Keen to
hear what you guys think down below
would you rather have a average somewhat
story length to begin with and have it
expand over time would you rather the
game just released with an absolutely
massive story or are you only primarily
focused in the online side of the game
